Very nice earrings

I ordered these earrings a little over two months ago and I am very happy with them. They are very light weight and they do not pull on your ears. The size is perfect; very "in" right now. You do have to pull on the stem pretty hard to get them off because the clasp is very tight. However so far so good. They have not broken and the clasp has not become loose or anything. I even accidentally left them in a pocket once and they were put through the washing machine. They were completely fine afterward. I do wish the earrings had been about $20 less expensive. Really inconspicuous...

These earrings are too small and thin to do justice to the unique design. For the same reason they are stiff and do not dangle like one would expect looking at the picture. On the other hand the diamond quality is pretty decent for the price but will only glitter with enough sunlight and not indoors. Very Cute

I got this for my girlfriend on Valentines Day. I did get the black Dragonfly necklace before this and was very happy with it. It has the same black diamonds and matched well. She loves these earrings. They are very cute. They are just the right size - a little less than a half-inch wide and about 1/2" tall. I got this product exactly as described and pictured. If you think these are small please read!

I love black diamonds and have three pairs of earrings of different sizes all bought online. I've noticed that several reviewers here were surprised that these 1cttw black diamonds are smaller than expected. Please note before you buy so you don't end up disappointed:



-#1: These earrings are advertised as 1 CTTW meaning 1 Carat TOTAL Weight. In other words each stone is approximately 1/2 carat for a total combined weight of 1 carat. As anyone who has bought jewelry online before can tell you stud earrings are usually advertised this way.



-#2: Black diamonds are naturally denser than white diamonds and therefore weigh more (about 1/3 more). Thus a 1 ct black diamond will be approximately the same size as a 2/3 ct white diamond. Many online sellers provide the stone's diameter in millimeters as well as the carat weight. It would be very helpful if Amazon would list measurements on their stones as well but until they catch on just keep the weight difference in mind when buying black diamonds.



One more thing for those complaining about the price I priced a pair of earrings similar to these at Boscov's this weekend just to see how good a deal I got. Boscov's regular price on 1 cttw black diamonds in 14k gold was $799.00 but they were on sale for $391.00. Compared to that Amazon's price is a steal as long as you know what you're buying.



Those who do their homework beforehand are rarely disappointed with their purchases.

Hit or miss with low-priced diamonds

With this inexpensive grade of diamonds visible flaws can be very likely as can off-colors. Combine that with cloudiness rather than the clearly refracting internal facets of a good diamond and the stones are dull and lifeless.



Unfortunately the slightly larger size of 1/2cttw makes these flaws more apparent. The result is hit-or-miss depending on your particular stones. Mine was more miss than hit so I returned them rather than giving the flawed earrings to my wife. I also got a pair of the 1/3 cttw diamonds (very similar and cheaper): 14k White Gold Round Diamond Stud Earrings (1/3 cttw K-L Color I3 Clarity) . That pair worked very well and was bright and clear as shown by shining a flashlight into the stones.



Amazon's lenient return policy applies equally to jewelry of course.
